College athletics recruiting is a complicated and often confusing process. The Will to Play offers experience, inside information and college contacts to make the process a reality, as well as manageable and less stressful. The Will to Play will help you develop strategies that will greatly improve your chances of playing your sport at colleges that meet your academic and personal criteria.

The Will to Play focuses on the athlete and balancing athletics College athletic recruiting is complex and new to most families. Parents often have limited knowledge of the process and little time to uncover all potential opportunities. It is also unrealistic to expect most high school coaches to do so. About Mike Dutton

Mike Dutton is a long-time coach, educator and athletic administrator with 25 years of experience that includes both the college and high schools levels. He has lived all over the United States and has established personal contacts at institutions of higher education across the country. Mike's experiences include:

Head Men's Basketball Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics
Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY - 17 years
  • Winningest men's basketball coach in school history
  • ECAC Champions, Coach of the Year
  • Won school-record 18 games three times
  • Recruited nationally to a highly-selective national liberal arts college
  • Graduated 98% of players (higher than college rate)

Mike received his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and did his undergraduate work at the University of New Hampshire, Durham where he competed on the varsity golf team.
